ByaparOS Fabric Laboratory & Marker Scaling

Automate Shrinkage Compensation in CAD Markers & Cutting Tickets

Prevent customer returns caused by garment shrinkage. ByaparOS records lab wash test swatches per roll lot and automatically recalculates pattern markers before laying fabric on the cutting table.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fabric wash shrinkage formulas, testing standards, and CAD pattern scaling

Formula: Shrinkage % = [ (Original Dimension − Washed Dimension) ÷ Original Dimension ] × 100%. For example, if a 50cm swatch shrinks to 47.5cm in length after washing: [ (50 − 47.5) ÷ 50 ] × 100% = 5% warp shrinkage.
Formula: Pattern Scale Multiplier = 100 ÷ (100 − Shrinkage %). For a 5% shrinkage, the pattern scale multiplier is 100 ÷ 95 = 1.0526 (or +5.26%). If a shirt length needs to be 30 inches finished, the cutting pattern must be 30 × 1.0526 = 31.58 inches.
The international standard (AATCC 135 / ISO 6330) uses a 50cm × 50cm square swatch with marked 35cm benchmarks to ensure accurate edge-to-edge measurement after machine washing and line/tumble drying.
Ignoring warp shrinkage causes trousers and shirt sleeves to become noticeably short after the customer's first home wash, leading to costly returns, client dissatisfaction, and brand reputation damage.
In ByaparOS, cutting masters record laboratory wash test results per fabric roll lot. The system automatically applies the calculated shrinkage scale multiplier to CAD markers and manual lay cutting schedules.
