Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Nepali numbering standards, banking rules, and South Asian comma conventions.

In the International Western system, numbers are grouped into units of three (Thousands, Millions, Billions, Trillions). In Nepal and South Asia, numbers are grouped after the first three hundreds into units of two: Thousands (हजार), Lakhs (लाख = 100,000), Crores (करोड = 10,000,000), and Arabs (अर्ब = 1,000,000,000).
1 Crore equals exactly 10 Million (1,00,00,000 = 10,000,000). Consequently, 10 Crore equals 100 Million.
1 Million equals 10 Lakhs (1,000,000 = 10,00,000). Similarly, 100 Thousand equals 1 Lakh.
In Nepal, commas are placed after the hundreds place (first 3 digits from the right), and then every 2 digits thereafter: e.g., Rs. 12,34,56,789 (Twelve Crore Thirty Four Lakh Fifty Six Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty Nine).
Above Crore (10^7) is Dash Crore (10^8), Arab (10^9 = 1 Billion), Dash Arab (10^10), Kharab (10^11 = 100 Billion), Dash Kharab (10^12 = 1 Trillion), Neel (10^13), and Padma (10^15).
ByaparOS automatically formats all ledgers, balance sheets, VAT invoices, and POS slips in the official Nepali Lakh-Crore comma grouping convention with optional Devanagari script output for statutory IRD compliance.
