Statutory fixed currency peg regulations, banking spreads, and cross-border invoicing rules in Nepal.

Since 1993, the Nepali Rupee (NPR / नेरु) has been pegged to the Indian Rupee (INR / भारु) at a fixed statutory exchange rate of 1 INR = 1.60 NPR (or 100 INR = 160 NPR).
Nepal Rastra Bank's official daily selling rate for 100 INR is Rs. 160.15 (1 INR = 1.6015 NPR), which incorporates the standard 0.15 paisa banking spread/commission. When buying INR from banks for import remittances or LC settlements, the 1.6015 selling rate applies.
Under Nepal Rastra Bank notifications, Indian currency notes of denominations 100, 50, 20, and 10 are freely circulated. High-denomination notes (INR 500 and INR 2000) have specific regulatory restrictions and are generally not accepted for formal commercial cash transactions unless approved under special travel/business limits.
